"Modern Methods and
Materials in Teaching German"
(graduate seminar, fall 2010)
In the fall of 2010, I took this graduate seminar with Dr. Sylvia Rieger of German Studies at McGill University. For one whole term we intensively studied Communicative Language Teaching in its various theoretical approaches, methods, and practical implementations in courses of German as a foreign language.
We also learned to create an electronic teaching portfolio, such as the one you are looking at now. In fact, my online portfolio is the direct result of this course.
Altogether, this seminar has enabled me to reflect critically and productively on my teaching, formulate my teaching philosophy, and continuously examine the methods that I employ in class. I plan to give a similar seminar in the near future.
